Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Do I have to be a certified teacher? No – you only need to be a fluent native English speaker. We have a curriculum and lessons for you to follow.

  • Do I have to be a Spanish speaker? No. Although a little Spanish would be useful in your non‐teaching hours, you do not need to speak Spanish fluently. You will learn quickly just by being in the language and culture 24/7, and your students will want to converse with you in English.

  • Do I have to be from a certain denomination or a certain church? No – you only need to be a Christian and a firm follower of Christ. The goal of the language institute is two‐fold… to meet the educational needs and desires of the population by teaching English using native English speakers, and to build relationships with the students that will reach them for the Kingdom – to foster their Christian growth and development through meaningful relationships with Christian teachers.

  • How old are the students? Generally speaking, the language institute will be working with Peruvian students in their teens and young adult years (16‐30). This population has a high interest in learning English.

  • How old do I need to be? We are seeking willing Christian people ‐ young adults, college students, teachers on summer vacation, retirees, pastors on sabbatical … your age is not as important as your dynamic personality and willingness to serve Christ in a cross‐cultural setting by loving people and building relationships with them for Christ.

  • Hours? What will my schedule look like? English classes are in the late afternoon and evening, 5 days per week. Mornings and weekends would be yours to do with as you please… sightseeing, cultural activities, participating in other ministries and missions, etc.

  • Where will I live? You will live in a Christian Peruvian home with a family. They will become your Peruvian family and help you with your Spanish, provide meals for you, help you with culture, etc. In turn, you will help them with English (if they wish), be a Christian witness and presence in their home, and be a good steward and witness from your culture.

  • What is the cost to me? Your cost will be your travel expenses to and from Peru, the cost of “rent” and meals to your Peruvian family, and any extra expenses that you would incur on your free time. We will give you a more detailed budget idea if you choose to pursue this opportunity. You will be a volunteer missionary in Peru, which means that you will be under either a tourist visa or a religious visa… in either case; you will be barred from earning money in the country. The language institute is a non‐profit mission. You will be volunteering your time and skills for the period that you are here. Your expenses and finances will be raised in the USA by people who support you and your work here. We can give you ideas and information on how to raise support. FIRST, you have to decide to accept this opportunity that God has laid before you. THEN, God will direct your steps and help you find the resources.

So… are you up to the challenge? We will begin accepting interns/missionaries/teachers in August of 2009. Maybe you can’t come yet… not a problem! We need several teachers on staff at all times, so we can work with your schedule. We do ask that you commit to at least 3 months at a time so students can build rapport and relationships with you and you can be more effective in showing Christian witness and bringing people deeper into a faith in Jesus Christ.  Contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
