About Us
The Drums have been sharing the love of Christ with the people of the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Peru since 1996. In 2006 the Drums made a decision to serve full-time as career missionaries in South America. After a lengthy process of preparation, including sharing the vision, fundraising, cross-cultural mission training and formal language training, Billy and Laurie joined TMS Global to work with their South American mission team in Peru.
Billy and Laurie shared Christ’s love with the people of rural Peru for five years. Having both spent many years as teachers in the USA, they have a heart for education and are called to help children and families and communities who do not have the ability to obtain an education in Peru. In 2009 they founded the Kuyay Talpuy program, which means “sowing seeds with the love of God” in Quechua. Through the Kuyay Talpuy education centers, the Drums were able to touch the lives of children, their families, and their communities. Laurie & Billy were also active in community development, community health outreach and discipleship programs. They have a strong desire to build cross-cultural relationships and share the love of Christ with the people of Peru and to help Peruvian nationals carry out both the Great Commandment (to love God and others) and the Great Commission (to make disciples throughout all nations).
In December of 2012, the Drums shifted from work in Peru to a new work in Spain. The work in Peru continues today under the direction and service of the dedicated teachers and workers that The Drums spent years training and leading.
In Spain, the Drums work is focused in three areas:
